Call for Co-editor JCCP

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS AND APPLICATIONS CO-EDITOR, JOURNAL OF CROSS-CULTURAL PSYCHOLOGY (JCCP)

Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology (JCCP), the flagship journal of the International Association of Cross-Cultural Psychology (IACCP), seeks nominations for a Co-Editor with expertise in qualitative and mixed-methods research and indigenous psychology.

JCCPpublishes papers that focus on the interrelations between culture and psychological processes. For more than 50 years, JCCP has provided a leading interdisciplinary forum for psychologists and researchers from adjacent disciplines who study the relations between culture and behavior. Details about the journal and the association can be found via these links. https://journals.sagepub.com/home/jcc  and www.iaccp.org

JCCP encourages manuscripts from scholars in the Global South or those working on important themes relevant to it. Importantly, the journal wants to expand its scope to include research using qualitative and mixed methods as well as research with a focus on indigenous psychologies and worldviews from the majority, non-Western world.

For this, the association is seeking highly qualified and committed individuals to serve in this newly created co-editor role.

As the field increasingly values methodological pluralism, appointing co-editors-in-chief with complementary methodological expertise – one primarily quantitative, the other primarily qualitative offers a strategically coherent governance model. Prof. Antonio Terracciano kindly agreed to succeed the current Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Sylvia Chen, as the co-editor with expertise in quantitative research methods. We are now seeking a co-editor with expertise in qualitative research methods and indigenous psychology.

The co-editor position is for a period of 3 years beginning from May 2026.

Responsibilities of the Co-Editor includes:

  • Collaborating with Sage and the other co-editor, Prof. Antonio Terracciano, from the submission process to the final publication
  • Coordinating all aspects of manuscript solicitation
  • Selecting and overseeing reviewers
  • Reading all submitted manuscripts at two stages
  • upon submission to determine if the article should be sent out for review
    • after the review and revision process in order to make the final decision about whether or not to publish each article
  • Selecting the contents for each issue, and planning special issues in consultation with the co-editor
  • Attending IACCP conferences

Selection criteria for co-editor include:

  • Excellent record of scholarship in the field
  • Previous editorial experience (e.g., Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editor, or Special Issue Editor)
  • IACCP membership and willingness to become a member, if not yet one

Application and Nomination Materials:

  • A detailed letter of interest including:

    • their vision for the future of the journal
    • current CV with any editing experience
