The IACCP web site runs on a php-mysql system, where php supplies
programming logic and mysql is a database. The site uses two databases,
a directory of content providers and a collection of content. Content
providers, such as IACCP Officers and EC members, add items to
the content database of various kinds, including news, reports,
calendar items, and their own personal information. Over time,
a wider variety of content will be under user control.
To provide content, you must login. Contact the webmaster for
login information. The types of content you may add to the site
depend on the types of "permissions" you are given. Permissions
are in turn a function of your role in the Association. Once you
login, a new set of links appears on the left column of the home
page. All content entry and editing is peformed by clicking on
the Manage Content link.
Click on Login at the bottom of the left column on the home page.
Your username is based on your actual last (family) name, but may
not be identical to it. Passwords and usernames are supplied by
the webmaster or his assistant. After logging in, you should see
a new set of links at the bottom of the left column. Your permissions
are also indicated.
Officers and EC members may add news and regional report items. Click on "Add New News Item" at the end of the home page news list or "Add New Regional Item at the end of the Reports list.
Fill in the information you would like to include in your item.
Use formatting tools for the body of the news item (see instructions linked from form page.) Click
on Save to save this information to your content record.
Click on Officers or Regional Reps to see the listings. If you are one of these people, you should be able to see an "Edit this listing" link under your listing. Click on "Add" at the end of the list to add a new listing (usually your own).
Only the person who added content can edit it (except the webmaster
can do anything). Items that you submitted will be followed by an "Edit" link in the News, Reports, Officers, and Regional Rep lists.
Only the person who added content, or the webmaster, can delete
it. (Not yet available to users)
Report problems to the webmaster or his assistant. As the saying
goes, "there is always one more bug."
